On May 5th, Designs Unlimited attended an event hosted by Trevarrow, Inc., in Auburn Hills, Mich., to announce the regional “Best of the Best” kitchen design from the nearly 1,800 entries that were submitted globally as part of the 2013-2014 Sub-Zero and Wolf Kitchen Design Contest. I was thrilled and honored to learn that my submission of the Corey Creek Kitchen (pictured above) was selected as the regional winner.
This project was truly a team effort. From the homeowners’ open communication and commitment to quality cabinetry, appliances and design, to the creative problem-solving of our project managers and installers in building the challenging custom light bridge and centerpiece island, to the manufacturers and suppliers that provided the appliances, countertops, and plumbing fixtures to complete the high-performance design — the entire team worked together to transform the contemporary and slightly industrial design concept into a reality.
As high-end kitchen designers, we always aim for excellence. When one of our designs is recognized by a panel of noteworthy architects, designers, and industry leaders, that’s especially gratifying.
But our ultimate goal on every project is to exceed our clients’ expectations and create a space they enjoy spending time in. For us, every project we complete should be worthy of an award, or it isn’t worthy of our company name. That’s why we work with high-performance brands like Sub-Zero and Wolf, and why we partner with quality distributors such as Trevarrow Inc and Herald Wholesale, and fabricators such as PMP Marble & Granite. Excellence is our basic standard.
I look forward to finding out this fall whether the Corey Creek Kitchen makes the final cut as a Global or Designer’s Choice winner. But even more than that, I can’t wait to see how our current projects turn out, and what design challenges clients will bring to us in the future.
